What if you are buried alive?
Imagine that: You wake up. You think you slept well, but then you realize that you are buried in a coffin. What do you have to do in such a situation? That's what you get to know in this article.
Being buried alive, it's a common fear. This is probably due to the fact that in the past it sometimes happened that people were being buried alive because the medical knowledge was not yet well developed in some areas. Nowadays it is so rare that it is not worth keeping track of how many people are accidentally buried alive. But in case you are one of the few unfortunate people who have to go through this, I'll tell you what to do in such a situation. That's what you get to know in this article. Here's the step-by-step plan:
Step 1: Calm down. Relax. Yes, there's a good chance you won't be able to figure it out at all, but you still have to stay as calm as possible. Freaking out and stressing lets you breathe faster, so you need more oxygen. In this case you have to spare your oxygen.
Step 2: Take inventory. Look what's in your pockets or around you. Anything that is sharp or hard can be used to escape. Do you happen to have a pocket knife with you or maybe a belt? You can use this to make a sound. Since you are recently buried, it is possible that someone is standing by your grave or working on it. If that person hears the tapping, you are lucky. It can also be used to break open the coffin. If you have a cellphone on you, just call the emergency services while staying calm.
Step 3: Prepare to bust out. If you are buried in an iron box... I'm sorry to say but then you just won't make it out, keep making noise with hard objects or tapping your hand on the coffin. If possible, mark where you're going to make a hole to crawl out when you're in a wooden coffin.
Step 4: Break out. Do this in the center of the lid of your coffin, this is the weakest spot of the coffin. It will be a bit tricky because you don't have a lot of space around you, but if you put some power in it, the pressure from the earth above will hopefully help to make the coffin crack. Press all the sand coming in to the sides and bottom of the coffin. Put your shirt over your head to provide you with oxygen and move up like a worm, but do this as soon as possible since you have a small amount of oxygen. Because you are recently buried, this will be the easiest part as the sand above you is still loose. Are you on top of the earth? Okay, then you can freak out and scream now!
